About

Training in computer science and international economics

An early-career researcher working at the intersection of machine learning, causal inference, and the economics of technology adoption.

Biography

Biography

My route into research runs through both computing and economics. I completed a Bachelor of Computer Science with Honours at Universitas Gadjah Mada, where coursework in machine learning, information retrieval and data mining led to an undergraduate thesis on opinion mining: I collected and labelled English-language Airbnb reviews and implemented TF–IDF weighting and a Naive Bayes classifier myself, rather than calling a library estimator.

I then worked for three years as a software engineer in Yogyakarta, building Python and SQL ETL pipelines on an ERP platform, integrating point-of-sale data across modules and standardising the schemas that joined them. With the support of the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship, I went on to an MSc in International Economy and Business at Corvinus University of Budapest, in the International Economic Analysis specialisation, where I wrote a master’s thesis using cross-country panel data to study the correlates of internet adoption.

Alongside and after my master’s studies I have worked in applied data roles — first as a part-time data analyst in Budapest, and currently developing a content-recommendation system in Indonesia. I am now preparing for doctoral study. My master’s thesis could establish associations but not causal effects; the direction I want to pursue is how causal machine learning and robust, distribution-shift-aware methods can produce more credible evidence on how digital technologies — AI in particular — are adopted, and what they change.

Data Scientist and Content Creator

PT Dunia Sempurna Teknologi — Indonesia

Leads the development of a Python- and SQL-based content-recommendation system for a catalogue of more than 460 games.

  • Defines data contracts, builds the data pipelines, designs the database and integrates the recommender with a backend API.
  • Built a hybrid recommender using game metadata, categories and TF–IDF features that returns personalised top-3 recommendations with a mean computation time below 1 ms.
  • Also co-leads the company’s content strategy across three social-media platforms.

August 2023 – May 2025

Data Analyst — Food & Beverage Operations (part-time)

Plataran Indonesia — Budapest, Hungary

Part-time analytical role held alongside the master’s programme.

  • Designed and automated data pipelines and dashboards in Excel and Google Sheets to support daily operations.
  • Carried out monthly financial and operational analyses and communicated the results to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Built an interactive Google Data Studio dashboard for sales and staff performance.

August 2019 – August 2022

Software Engineer

PT. Gosantha Global Indonesia — Yogyakarta, Indonesia

Built and maintained data pipelines and integrations on an Odoo ERP platform.

  • Built and customised Python and SQL ETL pipelines that automated workflows for more than 100 users, with schema standardisation across systems.
  • Led the integration of point-of-sale data with more than five ERP modules, unifying product, customer and transaction datasets.
  • Analysed more than 10,000 transaction records to find and resolve integration bottlenecks.
  • Managed the VMware- and Ubuntu-based infrastructure that supported the ERP data pipelines.
